Ulu and Oli Collection - Indoor and outdoor furniture, lamps. Inspired by the Bukit in Bali, a wild landscape of cliffs and rugged savannah landscapes, the Ulu Collection features both indoor and outdoor furniture, as well as lamps, that were originally designed for a WOHA project in Uluwatu, Bali, and have been adapted for this collection. Oli is named after the Sanskrit word for the “glow of a lamp”. Inspired by ancient Hindu and Buddhist sacred geometry and architecture, the contemporary modular lighting system in hand-blown glass and bronze provides beautiful possibilities from a single lamp glowing in the darkness to complex assemblages floating in space.
WOHA FOUNDERS RICHARD HASSELL AND WONG MUN SUMM
WOHA founders Wong Mun Summ and Richard Hassell are known for their benchmarks in sustainable design that integrates environmental and social principles in architecture. They continue in this same vein with their designs of four collections of homeware under a new design brand: WOHAbeing.
The Turtle Chair is part of the Bintan Collection, which takes inspiration from the island in the Riau Archipelago with its pristine white beaches and beautiful wildlife. The Turtle series of chairs has legs reminiscent of turtle flippers.
Named Ulu, Bintan, Sampan and Diaspora, each collection has a distinct personality and style and encompasses a different combination of objects. These collections of furniture, rugs, lights, bathware and tableware are designed by Wong and Hassell and developed with WOHAbeing’s collaboration partners.
